Thelma Smith Williams, age 81, died Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Tallahatchie General Hospital in Charleston, MS. She was born on December 16, 1929 in Tallahatchie County to the late Joe H. and Carlie Hollingsworth Smith. She was a member of Sylva Rena Baptist Church. Thelma loved reading her Bible and taking care of the Long Branch Cemetery, but her favorite pastime was her grandson, Jarrett.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2011 from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. The funeral service will follow visitation at 2:00 PM in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. John Price officiating.
Thelma is survived by her step-daughter, Peggy Jean Lewis of Merrit Island, FL; her son, Paul “Hoppy” Williams and his wife, Cathy of Charleston, MS; her brother Aaron G. Smith of Oakland, MS; and her grandson, Jarrett Levi Williams.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul A. Williams, Sr. in 1978.
