Thomas, William C. of Hingham, passed away April 29, 2011.
Former husband and good friend of Margaret (Savoie) of Braintree. Loving father of Anne McAuliffe and her husband Michael of Hingham. Cherished grandfather of Sarah, Michael, Heather, Grace and Shannon McAuliffe. Loving stepfather of Margaret Melanson of Rockland, Kathleen Simonds of Braintree, Leonard King of Rockland, and the late James and Stephen King. Brother of the late Margaret Thibodeau, Joseph Thomas and Lillian Danubio. Also survived many nieces and nephews.
William was a life long resident of Hingham, living in the same home for close to 90 years. After high school, he joined the U.S. Marine Corp. His family gave him the most fulfillment in life and he truly enjoyed being a father and grandfather. He shared a love of horses with his daughter and they later owned one together. Mr. Thomas retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1975 after 32 years, working in Weymouth Landing. He will be remembered most for his daily walks through the neighborhoods in Hingham. He was strong and independent, yet gentle and always willing to help others.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM.
A Funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:30 AM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home.
