Obituary

Melissa “Lisa” Britt Snow, 43, of Sycamore died Friday, April 29, 2011, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, 2011, at Bethel Baptist Church in Sycamore. Rev. Jim McDuffie, Rev. Kenneth Kicklighter, Rev. Wynton Lee and Rev. Jerry Kennedy will officiate with burial to follow in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Sycamore. Josh McDuffie, David Durden, David Clark, Jay Durden, Tony Snow, Mark Barnard, Steve Wood and Ernie Smith will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Hunter Snow and Christian Chavez. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 30, 2011, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Snow was born on January 12, 1968 in Ashburn and was the daughter of Monroe Britt and Marlene White, both of Sycamore. She was preceded in death by her beloved paternal grandmother, Ruth Britt; and her maternal grandfather, Jay Black. She was a teacher for the blind and visually impaired with the Tift County Board of Education and was an advocate for the children she taught. She loved teaching and she loved all of her students. She graduated from Turner County High School in 1986 and was Valedictorian of her graduating class. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Georgia Southwestern; received her Masters degree from the University of Arkansas in Little Rock, Arkansas; and received a Specialist in Education degree from Valdosta State University in Valdosta.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Snow is survived by her husband, James M. Snow of Sycamore; one son, Jesse Snow of Sycamore; one daughter, Carlee Snow of Sycamore; one brother, Cameron Britt of Tifton; four sisters, Michelle Pierce of Ocilla, Nicole Durden of Valdosta, Lee Ann Clark of Sycamore and Regina Nadeau of Warwick; an aunt, Susan Britt, whom she loved like her mother; her paternal grandfather, Henry Britt of Sycamore; her maternal grandmother, Laura Black of Ashburn; numerous nephews and nieces.
