Ziebel, Bebe, 82, of Englewood, NJ, passed away on April 2. She is survived by her husband Jack (known as Yok), sons Peter (Edie Weinberg) and Dan (Madeline), daughter Lisa, and grandchildren Rachel, Sam, and Michael, as well as her sister Harriet Schwartz (Herbert), cousin Fruma Bachrach (Nahum), and many nieces and nephews.Widely known for her warmth and smile, Bebe was beloved by her best friend Yok throughout their 62 years of marriage. She enriched the lives of all her family members with her unflagging love and support and she delighted in the achievements of her grandchildren. With a zany sense of humor and a compassionate ear, Bebe was cherished by an extended network of long-time friends. She was a teacher in the Englewood and New York public schools for more than 30 years and a leader in the teacher’s union; hundreds of young people, as well as colleagues, benefited from her commitment to public education. A lifelong advocate of progressive values, Bebe was active throughout her life in causes of social justice, civil rights, and peace. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, May 28 at 2pm at Volk-Leber Funeral Home, 789 Teaneck Rd, Teaneck, N.J.
