Blanche K. Zankowski, 89, of Bedford died at her home April 25, 2011. She was born in Manchester August 22, 1921, to Walter and Julia (Socha) Kaplarczyk. She graduated from Manchester Central High School at the age of 16 and on June 6, 1946 she married Stanley M. Zankowski. Prior to her retirement Blanche worked for many years as a legal secretary for Stanton Tefft Law Office in Bedford.
In her spare time she enjoyed working in her flower garden, reading books, and keeping up with the local happenings of the town faithfully watching B-TV daily. She was a history buff and avid bowler, continuing her passion in a local league until a few years ago.
A faithful parishioner of Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Polish National Catholic Church, she was proud of her Polish heritage and was active in the A.N.S. society and Senior Group. She especially enjoyed the rich tradition of Polish dance and song.
She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, babcia, and friend who had a terrific sense of humor. To her six grandchildren she was affectionately known as “Bubbie”. They were her pride and joy. She will be missed by all who were blessed to know her.
IN HER LIFE: Family members include her daughter Julie and her husband Allen “Hank” Swiadas, of Goffstown; 2 sons, Michael and his wife Sandra Zankowski, of Weare, John and his wife Susan Zankowski, of SC; 6 grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Stefan, Alina, Sarah, Stasia; and sister Leona Kaplarczyk, of Manchester. She was predeceased by her husband Stanley M. Zankowski in 1989.
A funeral mass was held Saturday, APril 30, 2011 at Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Cathedral, 166 Pearl St., Manchester. Bishop Thomas Gnat officiated.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Bedford Center Cemetery.
