JACOBS, EUGENE, 82, of Louisville, returned to his heavenly Father on Saturday, April 23, 2011, surrounded by family.
He was a member of Highland Park Christian Church, where he was an elder. Throughout his life, he volunteered his time by teaching Sunday School and serving on the Board of the Christian Church Home. He was a also a member of the Christian Church Homes of Kentucky Auxiliary Board. He faithfully volunteered at the Christian Health Center for over 45 years.
He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 64 years, Addie Jacobs.
He is survived by his loving family, Laura Cevera of Jacksonville, FL and Barbara Ramirez (Armando). He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Marc Sims (Alyssa), Lisa Billings (Danny), Brian Dillihay, Joshua Cevera and Lauren Smith (Jeremy); his three great-grandchildren, Lily Billings, Alex Billings and Hayden Smith; and his sister, Flossie Settles.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Highland Park Christian Church, 7839 St. Andrews Church Road with interment in Resthaven Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. and Thursday from noon-8 p.m. at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway.
