Murphy of Brockton, January 24, 2004, Richard Murphy, 47 years. Husband ofDonna M. (Ford) Murphy, devoted father of Brian and his fiance Melissa and David and his fiance Jennifer. Son of Elizabeth (Horrigan) Murphy, and the late James J. Murphy.

Funeral from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Wednesday at 8am. Funeral Mass in St. Patrick Church at 9am. Burial will follow at a later date. Visiting Hours Tuesday 4-8pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, Deacons Fund, 214 Main Street, Hanson, MA 02341.

Obituary Information

Richard Murphy died unexpectedly Saturday morning at the Brockton Hospital after being stricken at his home. Born in Brockton, son of Elizabeth L. (Horrigan) Murphy and the late James J. Murphy. He attended St. Patrick’s School and Brockton High School. After high school he joined the US Army and was stationed at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina. He had been a member of the US Army Reserves for five years. At the time of his death he was employed at Brook Contractor Supply of Avon. Earlier in his career, he had been employed by Intercity Transportation of South Easton. He enjoyed fishing, was an avid sports fan, enjoyed reading, cards, collecting beer steins and was a devoted family man. He was a member of the Protectors Club.

He is survived by his wife Donna M. (Ford) Murphy, two sons Brian and David Murphy both of Brockton, his mother Elizabeth (Horrigan) Murphy, of Brockton, three brothers James Murphy of Hanson, Robert Murphy of Brockton, Terence Murphy of Hernando, FL, two sisters Liza Mulhausen of N. Miami FL and Delia Murphy of Brockton, several nieces , nephews, cousins and friends. He was the brother of the late Thomas and Philip Murphy.
