Obituary

Holden - Calvin C. Jones died Saturday, April 23, 2011, at UMass Memorial Hospital. He leaves his loving wife, Grayce (Carlson) Jones; 2 sons, Steven Jones of Holden and Bradley Jones & his wife Haydee of Cumming, GA; nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by 3 brothers and 2 sisters. He was born in Worcester, son of Michael and Bertha Jones and lived most of his life in Holden.

He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He served aboard the U.S.S. Card (carrier escort), U.S.S. Strive (minesweeper), and the U.S.S. Leary (destroyer). He was awarded the WWII Medal, American Area Campaign Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and the Good Conduct Medal for his participation in the Normandy and African Invasions. He was an industrial photographer and retired from Wyman Gordon Co.

There will be no calling hours or funeral service. A graveside service with military honors will be held for close friends and family. Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester is directing arrangements.
