Obituary

Viola Fern Kroepel, 87, of Washington, passed away at 1:33 p.m., Sunday, April 24, 2011 at Washington Christian Village.

Viola was born on February 12, 1924 in Washington to John and Myrtle Wolcott Kinsinger. She married Richard Kroepel in Ames, Iowa on December 18, 1943. He passed away on November 13, 1988 in Washington.

Among those surviving are two sons, Richard (Ellen) Kroepel of Arlington Heights and Cary Kroepel of Morse Mills, Missouri; two daughters, Gloria (Dennis) Marcantoni of Glen Ellyn and Margaret Herrel of Lisle; one brother, Melvin Kinsinger of West Lake, Ohio; one grandson, Steven (Nikki) Kroepel and one great grandson, Gabriel Adam Kroepel. Viola was also preceded in death by an infant grandson, Eric and a granddaughter, Heidi; one brother and two sisters.

Viola for many years taught piano and organ in the Washington area and was a member of the Amateur Organists International Assn.

She had been an active member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Washington, where she taught Sunday School for many years and was part of the Dorcas Class and Gloria Dei.

Funeral services for Viola will be held at 10:30 a.m.on Friday, April 29, 2011 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church with Pastor John Bates officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens, south of Washington. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington and one hour prior to services at the church.

Memorials for Viola may be made to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.
