Edward Kirby McIntyre, 86, of New Bedford died peacefully at home on January 24, 2004 surrounded by his loving wife of fifty-five years and seven children.
He was the husband of Cecelia Helen (Tighe) McIntyre and son of the late Edward Kirby McIntyre and Margaret Ann (Meehan) McIntyre.
Mr. McIntyre was born in New Bedford and lived in New Bedford all of his life. He was a graduate of Holy Name Grammar School and New Bedford High School.
He was formerly employed by Naval Underwater Systems Center (NUSC) Newport.Mr. McIntyre was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister.
He was a member of Naval Underwater Systems Center Retirees luncheon group. He served in the US Navy during World War II. He was honorably discharged.
Mr. McIntyre was devoted to his family and his church. Retired for 27 years, he liked to walk around the city with his wife, to do wood working and wood finishing, and spend time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife; 4 sons, Edward Kirby McIntyre, Jr. of Franklin, MA, Mark Henry McIntyre of Nashua, NH, Joseph Benedict McIntyre of New Bedford, Robert Alexander McIntyre of Fairmont, WV; 3 daughters, Frances Ann McIntyre of Boston, Margaret-Mary McIntyre Sundin of Fairmont, WV and Regina Elizabeth McIntyre Siwek of Waynesburg, PA; 3 sisters, Mary Frances Muldoon, Helen Margaret McIntyre and Edith Cecilia McIntyre, all of New Bedford; 9 grandchildren.
He was the brother of the late Mark Henry McIntyre.

Visiting hours Tuesday, January 27th from 4-8 PM.
Interment St. Mary's Cemetery.
