Daniel P. Araujo, Sr., 86

Daniel P. Araujo, Sr., 86, of Norton, passed away in the presence of his loving family on Saturday April 23, 2011 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the beloved husband of Viola E. (Barton) Araujo to whom he was wed on April 28, 1945.
Born in Attleboro, MA on June 16, 1924, he was a loving son of the late John P. and Irene (Mello) Araujo.
Dan grew up and was educated in Attleboro. He had made his home in Norton for the past 55 years and was formerly of Attleboro.
A retired Toolmaker, Mr. Araujo had been employed for 30 years at the Hillsinger Corporation in Plainville. He retired in 1989.
Dan was a comunicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton. He was a lifetime member of the B.P.O.E. Fraternal Order of Elks #1011 in North Attleboro and was also a member of the Norton Grange & Bay State Pamona.
Mr. Araujo enjoyed gardening, traveling, dancing and especially spending time in the presence of his adoring family.
In addition to his beloved wife of nearly 66 years, he is survived by his devoted children Daniel P. Araujo, Jr and his wife Rene, Regina G. Lacaillade and her husband Raymond, Michael J. Araujo, Sr. and his wife Alice and Thomas G. Araujo and his wife Deborah. The dear brother of the late John Araujo and Mary Aguiar, he is also survived by his cherished 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, sister in laws Nancy Araujo, Anita Thronburn and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Thursday April 28th at 9:00 A.M. from the Norton Memorial Funeral Home 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Attleboro.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday April 27th from 5-8 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
