Funeral from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Monday at 9:30 AM. Funeral Service in the Trinity Episcopal Church 91 Main Street, Bridgewater at 10:30 AM. Burial in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.
Mr. died Thursday afternoon at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in West Roxbury after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Suzanne J. (Paul) O’Connor.Born on July 28, 1924, in Whitman, he was the son of the late Charles R. and Lillie D. (Swan) O’Connor. He was raised in Brockton and was a 1943 graduate of Brockton High School. He also attended Northeastern University as chemistry major.
Mr. O’Connor was a disabled veteran of WW II serving in the US Marine Corps in the Pacific and a charter member of the DAVHe worked for the US Post Office in Brockton and retired after 30 years. He was affiliated with the Easton Police Department serving as a security officer at Stonehill College. He owned and operated the Charles R. O’Connor Co. “Magic-Stick” line.
He was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church of Bridgewater and spent many summers with his family at their home in West Yarmouth.He was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast. He enjoyed traveling, landscaping and reading.In addition to his wife he is survived by 2 sons and 3 daughtersA step-son Barry C. Reaves of Trappe, MarylandA sister Gloria Carbone of Hudson, NH and a brother Harold O’Connor of Centerville, MAHe is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephewsHe was the brother of the late Melvin and Charles O’Connor
