Rupert C. Whiston, Jr., 85, of Tiverton, RI died Thursday, April 21, 2011. He was husband of the late Kathryn (Askew) Whiston. Born in Fall River, he was son of the late Rupert C. Whiston, Sr. and the late Dora (Ashton) Whiston. A veteran of WWII, he served his country in the United States Army. Mr. Whiston was a self employed designer / fabricator of tools. He was a member of the Amicable Congregational Church, Tiverton and a member of the V.F.W. Post 5392 of Tiverton.
Survivors include 2 sons: John F. Whiston of PA and William T. Whiston of RI; 3 daughters: Virginia Messier of Portsmouth, RI, Carolyn Borges of Little Compton and Janice Peixoto of CT; a sister: Doris Frederickson of Fall River; 14 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a dear friend: Yvette Mancini.
He was brother of the late Edith Brooks.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at the Potter Funeral Home at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours Monday 5 – 8 P.M.
Interment in Nathan Slade Cemetery, Somerset.
