Obituary

John W. "Jack" Flight Jr., a 13 year resident of Lynnfield and former 22 year resident of Saugus, died on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 66 years old.

Jack was born in Malden on February 25, 1945 to Dorothy E. (Flight) Flight and John W. Flight. He grew up in Everett where he attended Everett Public Schools and graduated from Everett High School in 1963. Jack then went on to Coyne Electrical Technical School in Boston and received his Master Electricians license. He served his country proudly and honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. Jack worked for more than 30 years as a Master Electrician at General Electric in Lynn and was a member of General Electric Electrician's Union Local # 201. He was a former member of I.B.E.W. Local # 103. Jack was a member of Galilean Lodge A.F. A.M. Jack was an avid golfer and was a member of Gannon Country Club and Thompson Country Club. Jack was also very involved in many activities that involved cystic fibrosis due to the illness that his son endured. Most of all, Jack enjoyed his family, especially his two grandsons that he loved spending much quality time with and watching all their sporting events.

Jack is the beloved and loving husband of 44 years to Janice E. (Kerr) Flight who were married on April 22, 1967. He is the devoted father of Kimberly Contardo and her husband David of Lynnfield and the late Brian K. Flight. He is the loving Grampy to Nicholas and Jac Contardo. He is the beloved son of Dorothy E. (Flight) Flight of San Diego, California and the late John W. Flight. He is the beloved brother of Darlene Lamb and her husband Richard of San Diego, California. He is the loving uncle of Justin Lamb. He is the beloved son-in-law of Emma Kerr of Everett and the late Fred Kerr. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jack's Funeral on Saturday, April 23, 2011, at 8:30 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main Steet, Wakefield/Melrose line, followed by his Funeral Service in the Centre Congregational Church, 5 Summer Street, Lynnfield, at 10 a.m. Interment will be private. Visiting hours will be on Friday, April 22, 2011, from 4 to 8 p.m.
