Obituary

James Moran, 94, of Fairhaven, formerly of Mattapoisett died January 22, 2004 at St. Luke's Hospital after a short illness.

He was the husband of the late Natalie Marion (Fontaine) Moran.

Born in Oldham, England, the son of the late James and Annie (Connolly) Moran, he had lived in New Bedford and Mattapoisett for most of his life.

He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church in Mattapoisett.

Mr. Moran was co-owner of General Plastering and Tile Company in New Bedford. He was a member of the Bricklayers and Plasterers Union Local 39 for over 65 years.

He served with the U.S. Army combat engineers during World War II in France and Germany, and was a recipient of the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater ribbon, the Good Conduct medal and the World War II Victory ribbon.

Mr. Moran and his wife traveled extensively over many years around the country and abroad.

Survivors include 2 sons, Donald J. Moran and former Mattapoisett Police Chief James F. Moran, and his wife Annette, all of Mattapoisett; a sister, Annie Hunter of Fairhaven; 2 grandchildren, Patrick J. Moran and Christine A. Richards, both of Mattapoisett; a great-grandchild, Molly K. Richards of Mattapoisett; and several nieces and nephews.

He was the grandfather of the late Stephen H. Moran.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass in St. Anthony's Church, Mattapoisett, Monday, January 26th at 10 AM, followed by burial in St. Anthony's Cemetery.

Visiting hours are omitted.
