Ruth V. (Lapham) Fernandes, 79, of Medway died April 18 in the Medway Country Manor. She was the wife of the late Arthur L. Fernandes who died in 1984.
Born in Milford, June 6, 1931, the daughter of the late Albert and Lillian (Smith) Lapham, Mrs. Fernandes had lived in Medway for most of her life.
She had been a telephone operator for the New England Telephone Company and the Draper Corporation.
Ruth loved to play bingo and to bowl.
She is survived by her children, Arthur Fernandes, Jr. and his wife Annmarie of Milford, Carolyn Foster and her husband Wayne of Medway and Anita Cato and her husband William of Lunenburg.
She was the mother of the late Frances “Franny” MacLeod.
She was the sister of the late Raymond Handy.
She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services and interment will be private.
