Lydia (Vieira) Arruda, age 90 of Somerset passed away April 16, 2011. She was widow of John Arruda Jr. and daughter of the late John and Carolina (Mendes) Vieira. Prior to retiring, she worked at Tick Toc Frocks. She was a member of the United Garment Workers and of St. John of God Church. Before her long illness she enjoyed cooking, baking, traveling and spending time with her great grandchildren.
Mrs. Arruda was mother of John Arruda III of Fall River; sister of the late Hilda Ferreira, Americo, Joseph and Caroline Vieira; grandmother of Candice DeStefano, Dawn Rodrigues and John Michael Arruda of Lake Mary, FL; great grandmother of David Benevides Jr., Cassaundra and Mercedes Leone, Bryce-Xavier DeMatos and Hailey Arruda and an aunt to several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. 1521 N. Main St., Fall River WEDNESDAY at 9A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John of God Church, Brayton Ave., Somerset at 10 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours TUESDAY 4-8 P.M.
