Dr. Wayne F. Whitmer
Dr. Wayne F. Whitmer, age 68 of Clarksville, passed away April 15, 2011 at Gateway Medical Center.
Dr. Whitmer was born in Buffalo, NY, the son of the late Robert and Gaithel Oakes Whitmer. He was a US Army veteran, and retired Assistant Professor at Austin Peay State University. While at APSU from 1979-2000, he taught in the College of Business, College of Education, and School of Technology and Public Management. He was formerly a faculty member at the University of Cincinnati, OH, 1976-1979.
He received his higher education degrees, Bachelor's: University of the Cumberlands, Williamsburg, KY; Master's: Xavier University, Cinncinnati; Master's: University of Cincinnati; Doctorate: University of Cincinnati.
In addition to his parents, Dr. Whitmer was also preceded in death by his sister, Janice Brown. He is survived by one brother, Robert (Mae) Whitmer, Jr., Kill Buck, NY; one sister, Vivian (Doug) Fuller, Kill Buck, NY; special friends/caregivers, Rusty, Sue, Emily and Bennett Evans, the Staff and Administrators of FieldStone Place Retirement Coummunity, and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be 1 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2011, at FieldStone Place Retirement Community.
