Rolando Vega, 80, a resident of Lawrence, MA., passed away on Monday, April 11, 2011 at his home.
Born in Havana, Cuba, Rolando was educated in Cuba and came to Lawrence in 1973. He had worked as a Line Worker for Loren Products in Lawrence for over 25 years. While in Cuba, Rolando was an avid Baker and maker of wines. He also liked to collect things. He was a kind man who loved to give candy to his nieces and nephews.
The son of the late Narcisa and Benito Vega, members of his family include:
his sisters: Eulalia Alvarez and Nereida Guzman both of Florida and Magaly Lara of Haverhill, MA.
a brother: Luis Vega of Cuba, and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
Rolando was also the brother to the late Orlando Vega, Emilio Justo Vega, Carmita Vega, and Jesus Vega.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, also in Lawrence. Family and friends may call on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 from 4 to 8 P.M. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 122 Amesbury St., Lawrence, MA.
