Betty Rowland Norris, 83, of Tifton died Thursday, April 14, 2011, at Tift Health Care, after a lengthy illness with Parkinson’s Disease. She had the most loving, tender care from her caregiver, Callie Wright, who was with her the many years she was sick. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2011, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Bruce Sack and Dr. Stephen Webb will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Al Kent, Ike Kent, Bo Tucker, Bob Tucker, Kenny Berkeypile and James Walker will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Loyalty Sunday school class of Tifton’s First United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 16, 2011, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Norris was born on July 28, 1927 in Tift County and was the daughter of Ike Rowland and Georgia Pearl Walker Rowland, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Norris, Sr. She was a long-time member of Tifton’s First United Methodist Church and the Loyalty Sunday school class, where she served as secretary for many years. She was retired from the Tift County Chamber of Commerce.
Mrs. Norris is survived by one son, Charles A. Norris, Jr. of Athens; three grandchildren, Joshua Norris, Arrie Norris and Bill Norris, all of Watkinsville; and two sisters, Louise Kent and Billie Tucker, both of Tifton.
