...beloved husband, father, grandfather; 81
TEWKSBURY - Joseph A. Fortuna, age 81, a retired Raytheon employee, died early Thursday morning, April 14, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill following a courageous six month battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Eleanor Claire (Fall) Fortuna, with whom he had celebrated a 57th wedding anniversary this past December 2nd.
He was born in Boston's West End, and lived in Newton and Woburn before moving to Tewksbury in 1997.
He enlisted into the U.S. Army and served on the peace keeping force in Korea following the end of declared war. Upon his Honorable Discharge, he worked as an electrician for Northeastern Electric Company for 25 years, then moved to Raytheon in Waltham, where he retired as an electrician.
He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 1505, at Raytheon.
Besides his wife, he is survived by four children, Carmela "Candy" Hagar of Chelmsford, Mark Fortuna of Boylston, Linda Pieleski and her husband Mark of Tewksbury, and Marie Fortuna of Reading; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday, April 16, in St. William's Church, Tewksbury. Burial with Army Honors followed at St. Mary Cemetery, No. Tewksbury.
