Willis W. Prescott, 92, of Fitzgerald died Sunday, April 10, 2011, at Dorminy Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Michael Ruffin and Dr. Ches Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening from 7 until 9 PM.
Mr. Prescott was born December 14, 1918 in Fitzgerald to the late John Oliver and Mary Catherine Minix Prescott. He graduated from Fitzgerald High School and Massey Business School in Atlanta. He retired from Kraft Foods where for forty years he served as a supervisor. Serving in the United States Army during World War II, he also worked at the shipyards in Brunswick, GA. He returned in 1985 from Stone Mountain, GA to live in Fitzgerald where he was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was a member of the Baraca Sunday School Class.
He is survived by his daughter Lynda Prescott Crowe of Fitzgerald; Son and daughter-in-law, Phillip Anthony and Nancy Prescott of Snellville, GA; Grandchildren: Paige (Will) Rogers and Traci (Pete) Avers; 5 Great-grandchildren: Evan and Chad Avers and Liam, Nicholas and Ava Rogers. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wylene Thompson Prescott, 4 brothers, and 3 sisters.
