NELSON, John “Jackie” - Formerly of West Roxbury, passed away April 4, 2011 in Richmond, Texas. Preceded in death by parents William Stanley Nelson, and Nora (Joyce) Nelson, and children John (Jackie) Nelson Jr., and Joanne (Nelson) Sprinsky. He leaves behind children Shirley (Nelson) Pleickhardt of N.H., Kaaren Nelson of Texas, Kimberly (Nelson) Peirce of Rhode Island, and Erick Nelson of MA. He also leaves behind 16 grandchildren.
Jackie was a proud veteran of the US Navy where he served honorably on the USS Little Rock. He worked as a welder for many years and had special interests in history, anthropology, the Algonquin Nation, Irish/Celtic music, and story telling. His stories will be treasured by us all.
Funeral Service in the P.E. Murray-George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 2000 Centre St. WEST ROXBURY, Tuesday, April 12 at 12:00 Noon. Relatives and friends warmly invited. Visiting hours prior to the service from 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon. “Jackie” will be laid to his final rest in Mt. Benedict Cemetery, West Roxbury.
