Obituary

WORCESTER-Henry E. Knowlton, 88, of Worcester died Thursday, April 7th in the Rose Monahan Hospice Home. He leaves his wife of 56 years, Katherine E. (Tomporis) Knowlton; two sons, Richard C. Knowlton and James E. Knowlton both of Worcester; three daughters, Janet E. Knowlton of Ware, Sandra L. Knowlton-Soho and her husband, Greg Soho of Windsor, VT and Deborah A. Corey and her husband, Edward Cenerizio of Sugar Hill, NH; a brother, Robert C. Knowlton of Wallingford, CT; six grandchildren, Christopher Corey, Nicole Gonzalez-Knowlton, Jacob Soho, John Henry Soho, Katherine Soho and Anni Soho; a great grandchild, Avi Sarousi; his beloved cat, Skye and many nephews and nieces.
He was born in Gardner, the son of Henry C. and Dorothy (Baker) Knowlton. Henry was a graduate of Gardner High School and Becker Jr. College. He worked as an industrial engineer at Data General retiring in 1987. Mr. Knowlton was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre. He was a member of All Saints Church where he served on the vestry and was an associate verger. Henry also belonged to the Retired Men’s Club of Greendale, the MA Audubon Society and AARP where he served on the Board of Directors for the Worcester Chapter. He enjoyed golfing, spending time with his grandchildren and birdwatching.
The funeral is Friday, April 15th at 10:00 am in All Saints Church, 10 Irving Street. Interment will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no calling hours. O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue is directing arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Church, 10 Irving Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
