Claude Thomas Jones, Sr., age 65, of Douglas, GA passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Jones was a police detective for the City of Douglas. He was born to the late Daniel Thomas and Rushie Lee Thompson Jones on April 13, 1945 in Pearson, GA. He was preceded in death by a brother: Iren Jones and sister: Grace Wright. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Chatterton Holiness Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. with interment following in the Chatterton Church Cemetery. Survivors include: wife: Ruth Jones, Douglas, GA; daughter: Cathy (Hal) Jones Hand, Douglas, GA; son: Claude Thomas (Vicki) Jones, Jr., Glenville, GA; 4 grandchildren: Kevin Thomas Jones, Brandi Michele Pharis, Corrie Nicole Hand and Justin Hand; brothers: Rev. Levi L. Jones, Douglas, GA and Odell Jones, Jacksonville, FL. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 9, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Sims Funeral Home.
