Mr. Frederic Albion Froburg, a resident of Lawrence, formerly of Andover and beloved husband of the late Pamela Froburg, died at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on, Wednesday, April 6, 2011. He was 64 years old.
Born in Lawrence on October 12, 1946, he was the beloved son of Mary (Walsh) and the late Frank Froburg, Sr. Mr. Froburg was a graduate of Andover High School, class of 1965. He enlisted in the US Navy at Andover on March 1, 1966 and received his honorable discharge on November 3, 1969. While in the military, Mr. Froburg worked as an Aircraft Mechanic and served aboard the USS Princeton, during the recovery of Apollo X. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze stars and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, for his exemplary service.
He was formerly self employed as a mechanic and had worked for Elm Street Auto in Andover. Most recently, Fred worked as a custodian at the Andover High School. He was a longtime member of the Andover and Lawrence Elks.
Fred will be sorely missed by his loving daughter; Kate Froburg of Andover, mother; Mary (Walsh) Froburg, sisters; Beverly Lord of Rye, NH, Ann Eldred and her husband James of Methuen, brothers; Frank Froburg, Jr. and his wife Donelda of Andover, Phillip Froburg and his wife Marsha of Haverhill and Thomas Froburg and his wife, Robin of Andover, step-children; Robin Cataldo and her husband Alfred of Andover and Gregory Hinchcliffe, grandchildren; Lauren Hinchcliffe and Jordan Caltaldo. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Fred was also the brother of the late Judy Jakobsen.
His funeral mass was celebrated in St. Joseph Church, Highvale Lane, Andover, Saturday, April 9, 2011, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Calling hours were omitted.
