Obituary

Meredith (Porter) Turcotte, 86, of Abington passed away on, Wednesday April 6th after several years of failing health. She was the loving wife of Roland Turcotte.

She was the daughter of the late Roscoe and Gladys (Kenerson) Porter.

A lifelong resident of Abington, she lived her entire life on Bedford street and was a witness to many changes that unfolded over the years on Route 18.

She was the hub of her family, as she reveled in the family gatherings she planned and took care to ensure that all were well fed and comfortable.

Meredith was a Registrar in the Town of Abington, a Youth Fellowship Leader at the Congregational Church and worked as a Teacher’s Aide assisting Special Needs children in the Abington Public Schools. She also supported her husband in his endeavors and delivered Meals on Wheels at his side.

In addition to her husband Roland, she is survived by her 2 daughters, Deborah Van Tassel of East Longmeadow, and Dorinda Billings of Abington; also 8 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She was also the sister of the late Warren and Lawrence Porter.

Her funeral services will be held on Saturday April 9th at 3:00PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman .Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Abington, MA. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to service from 1:00-3:00PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the VistaCare, 2 Willow St., Southboro, MA 01745.
