Americo D. Antunes, 87

Dateline: Bristol, Rhode Island

Americo D “Ricky“. Antunes, 87, of Bristol, Rhode Island formerly of Norton passed away on Tuesday April 5, 2011 at the Rhode Island State Veterans Home in Bristol. He was the beloved husband of the late Else K. (Tonnessen) Antunes who died on June 8, 2007.
Born in Portugal on March 3, 1924, he was a son of the late Manuel and Maria (Damas) Antunes. A resident of Bristol for the past 3 years, he had formerly made his home in Norton for over 25 years.
Educated in Connecticut, He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII and was honorably discharged on March 24, 1946 with rank of Radioman Third Class.
A retired Bartender, Mr. Antunes had worked at the Norton Country Club in Norton for several years prior to retiring and had previously been employed for 16 years as the Manager of the Wading River Golf Course, also in Norton .
Ricky was an avid golfer and while living in Norton was a member of the Norton Country Club. He will always be remembered for his kindness shown to others.
He is survived by his daughters Carolyn Rounds of Glocester, Rhode Island and Madeline Farrar of North Smithfield, Rhode Island. The brother of Joseph Antunes of Cumberland, Rhode Island, he is also survived by 2 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday April 13th at 9:00 A.M. at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Curran Road, Cumberland.
Visiting hours are omitted and those wishing may make a donation in Mr. Antunes memory to the charity of ones choice.
