SOMERSET… Alexander H. Yata, 91, of Somerset died April 4, 2011.
He was the widower of Jacqueline (Cressey) Yata.
He was born in Newark, New Jersey the son of the late Joseph and Helen (Stefanik) Yata and had lived in Somerset most of his life.
He worked at Firestone for 29 years and had worked at the Herald News for 15 years retiring in 1985.
He served in The United States Coast Guard Merchant Marines during World War II and was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps for 5 years. He enjoyed yard work and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
Survivors include a Daughter: Donna Mello and her husband Matthew of Fall River, a Son: Ronald Yata of Somerset and his fiancé Judy Rebello, 2 grandchildren: Jennifer and Jessica McElroy of Fall River, 2 great grandchildren: Madison McElroy and Dylan Plourde of Fall River, several nieces and nephews including Jay Patenaude of Somerset. He was the brother of the late Josephine (Yata) Patenaude, the step brother of the late Wanda Bochenski and the late John Janik.
Funeral Mass to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Friday at 10AM at St. Thomas Moore Church, Luther Ave, Somerset. Interment in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5 – 8 PM at the BOYKO MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 709 Broadway, Fall
