WEBSTER - Cecelia D. (Szymczak) Tabor, 98, formerly of Myrtle Avenue, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 4, 2011, at Saint Francis Home, Worcester, where she had resided for the past six years. Her husband, Francis J. “Frank” Tabor, died in 1981.
She was born in Webster on January 5, 1913, the youngest child of Jacob and Julia (Wieczorek) Szymczak, and lived in Webster her entire life before moving to Saint Francis Home.
She is survived by her two children, Patricia A. Rickard and her husband Bruce of Northborough, and James F. Tabor and his wife Nancy of Millbury; five grandchildren, Susan Rolfe and her husband Peter, Mark Rickard and his wife Jennifer, Jeffrey Tabor and his wife Mary Ellen, Mary Beth McCarthy and her husband Ryan, and Pamela Croteau and her husband Jason; eleven great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Francis, Stanley, Louis and John Szymczak, and by two sisters, Julia Poblocki and Mary Wallace.
Celia worked for many years in the shoe industry in Webster before retiring in 1973. She was a life member of Saint Joseph Basilica and belonged to its Holy Rosary Sodality and Sacred Heart Society.
Her most cherished times were those spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family wishes to express their thanks and appreciation to the staff at the Saint Francis Home who provided her with kind and compassionate care over the last several years.
The funeral will be held Thursday, April 7, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace. Calling hours will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, April 6, in the funeral home.
