(Ret) SGM Leslie R. Wood, age 83 of Clarksville, TN, died Monday, April 4, 2011 at Alive Hospice at St. Thomas, Nashville, TN.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 10 a.m., at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel, with Chaplain Lois Morrison officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m., and from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service on Thursday at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
He was born February 28, 1928 in Fairmont, WV, son of the late Wilbur Wood and Vivian Heston Wood. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Wood.
He was retired U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He was a life long member of the Torii Chapter of the Rakkasans, had a 50 year pin of the Queen City Lodge. He volunteered
with Meals on Wheels, Loaves and Fishes, and the Montgomery County Veterans Van Service.
Survivors include daughter, Kay Stack (Kenneth), Clarkville; son, Jeff Wood (Maggie), Mt. Vernon, OH; and three grandchildren, Jaime Casiano (Rob), Wade Stack (Amy) and Kyle Stack.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels, Loaves and Fishes, or the Montgomery County Veteran Van Service.
