Obituary

Mr. James “Jimmy” Monroe Tucker, age 74, of Dobson, passed away on April 1, 2011 at his residence. He was born on October 27, 1936 in Surry County to the late Virgil “Virg” and Lula Holyfield Tucker. Mr. Tucker was retired from DnB Humidifiers, a member of New Home Church of Christ, and a former member of Copeland Ruritan Club. Mr. Tucker is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Melissa Tucker, of Ararat; one special niece, Shannon Speas, one special great-nephew, Alex Hutchins, one special great-niece, Brianna Speas, several nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins. Mr. Tucker was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley A. Tucker, his parents, and one sister, Ruby Tucker Hoots. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at New Home Church of Christ at 2:00 P.M. with Bro. Tim Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Double Creek Church of Christ Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 4, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Cox-Needham Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice & Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200 Mt. Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all the family members and those in the community who have helped care for Jimmy during his illness.
