Obituary

Jean Blake White, 69, life long painter and poet, died peacefully at home on March 12, with the support and care of her many friends and family. Jean died of glioma, an aggressive primary brain tumor. For the past 13 years, she lived in Franklin, MA. Her only daughter, Catherine and son-in law, Stuart also have lived in Franklin for about 20 years.


Jean Blake White was a student at the Rhode Island School of Design and Goucher College. She was member of Phi Beta Kappa. Jean was president of the Franklin Art Association for several years and remained engaged and active with its membership. Her art has appeared in many area galleries, and shows, including recent shows at the Norfolk Library, and the Woodshed Gallery.


Jean was recently accepted into the National League of American Pen Women, for her poetry, and was a member in a local poetry group. Jean also was author of the novelization of the movie, Don Juan de Marco, based on the screen play by Jeremy Leven, starring Johnny Depp, Faye Dunaway and Marlon Brando.


Jean, Stuart and Catherine worked together at Llamagraphics, a small family business, where Jean provided customer support for their software product line for Life Balance. She was also a member of the Board of Directors since 1993. Jean worked as a manager of a technical team at Arbitron, a division of Control Data in Maryland prior to moving to Massachusetts. She worked for the Maryland Center for Public Broadcasting, and General Register. In California, she worked for the Original Sound Record Company, Ikon Films and Let's Live Magazine.


Her memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 17, 2011, at the First Universalist Society of Franklin on Chestnut Street at 3pm. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Edgewood Sailing School, P. O. Box 25641, Cranston, RI 02905 which is rebuilding its non-profit educational program for children, adults and families after a fire in January, or donate to any worthy cause that touches your heart.Arrangments are under the care of the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin .(www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com)
