Augusta, Ga. - Julie Ann Olson, 88, entered into rest on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Trinity Hospital. The family will hold a memorial service in celebration of her life on Tuesday, April 5 at 1 p.m., Platt’s Funeral Home in Evans.
Julie was born and raised in Yonkers, NY. She joined the Women’s Army Corps in 1943 and, after training in Morocco, served in Italy during World War II. Upon returning from duty, she joined the Civil Service and was stationed in Japan where she met her husband, Warren. During Warren’s career as a U.S. Air Force and later civilian pilot, the couple lived in Germany and Southeast Asia. Her love of adventure and travel ultimately took her to many places around the world, including most recently, a trip to Budapest last fall. Julie will be remembered by her family as a loving mother and grandmother.
Julie is preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Warren H. Olson, and her sister, Theresa Lazor. She is survived by her son, Robert W. Olson (Kathy) of Augusta, Diane L. Ammundsen (Mike) of Plantation, FL, and Sherry A. Ferrante (Raymond) of Long Valley, NJ. and nine grandchildren.
