Marlene Voto of Blakely died Wednesday at AseraCare Hospice at Mid-Valley Hospital, Peckville. She was the wife of James Voto, who died in 1993.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Frank and Rose Malakar Thomas, she attended local schools and graduated from Scranton State Hospital as a registered nurse. She retired from New Britain General Hospital as a supervisor and worked at Mid-Valley Hospital. She was an active alumnus for her class at Scranton State hospital. She was active in Eucharistic adoration at St. Patrick's Church, the Cenacle of Mary and Divine Mercy.
Surviving are two sons, John Cheresko, New Britain, Conn.; and Thomas Voto, Blakely; a daughter, Rose Marie and husband, Iwer Thumler, Northford, Conn.; a sister, Mary Lou and husband Frank Yanchik, Peckville; one brother Francis Thomas and wife Marlene, Blakely; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Thursday from the Michael P. Glin sky Funeral Home Inc., 129 Grant St., Olyphant, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Cross Parish. Interment, St. Joseph's Cemetery, Scott Twp.
