Obituary

FALL RIVER…Paul S. Aloise, 81, of Colebrook Road, Little Compton, died unexpectedly on Sunday, January 18, 2004 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Evelyn M. (Pickard) Aloise.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late John M. Aloise and the late Martha (Stafford) Aloise-Hill and has been a resident of Little Compton since 1998. Prior to that he had resided in the town of Tiverton since 1980. He was a 60 year member of the Amicable Congregational Church in Tiverton.

He was formerly employed as a nuclear submarine technician for Portsmouth, New Hampshire Naval Shipyard for 26 years until his retirement in 1980. He was a WWII veteran serving in the United States Coast Guard attaining the rank of Seaman First Class.

Mr. Aloise was a member of the American Legion, Senior Citizens, and also the Democratic Committee all of Little Compton. He was the past president of the VFW Post #4029 and a member of the Masonic Lodge A.M. & F.M. both of Pittsfield, NH. He was also a member of the Old Colony Railroad and served as Director, Corporate Secretary and Conductor of the National Railroad and Museum both of Newport, RI. Mr. Aloise was a member of the Trolley Museum Railroad in Kennebunkport, ME and the National Audubon Society. Mr. Aloise had served as Town Councilman of Tiverton and he was videographer for Town Council of Little Compton.

In addition to his wife he is survived by a son: Grant S. Aloise of Lewiston, ME; 6 daughters: Beverly Ann Aloise of Portland, ME, Katherine Gawronski of West New Fields, ME, Sandra E. Smith of Loudon, NH, Beverly I. Carr of Pittsfield, NH, Sharon R. O’Doughtery of Loudon, NH and Linda Sue Swain of Franklin, NH; a brother: Dana Aloise of Lakeport, NH; a sister: Grace Wagner of Pittsfield, NH; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Thomas Hill and David Aloise.

Services to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Wednesday at 1:00 P.M. at the Amicable Congregational Church, Tiverton.

Calling hours will be Tuesday 5-8 P.M. at the POTTER FUNERAL HOME, 81 Reed Rd., Westport, MA 02790.

Interment in Hillside Cemetery, Tiverton.
