Dorothy “Dot” “Mimi” (Andrews) Tewksbury, 80, of Derry, NH, died Sunday, January, 18, 2004, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA after a sudden illness. She was born on April 16th, 1923, in Raymond NH a daughter of Fred and Marion (Counter) Andrews and had been a resident of Derry for 54 years. She grew up in Raymond, graduated from Raymond High School in 1941, and graduated from Elliot Hospital School of Nursing in 1944. She worked as a nurse at Exeter Hospital from 1944 to 1948. At that time, she stayed home to care for her children. She later worked from 1971 as cafeteria staff at Gilbert Hood School in Derry until her retirement in 2002.
The family includes a son, Stephen Tewksbury and his wife Polly of Chester, a daughter, Susan Madden and her husband John of Londonderry, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one sister, Joan Gelinas of Raymond, her former husband Richard Tewksbury of Laconia, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other special people.
IN HER LIFE: She loved her special grandchildren with all her heart; Stephen Tewksbury of Auburn, Shawn Tewksbury of Milford, Stacy Tewksbury of Pittsfield, Amy (Madden) Ashe of Manchester, and Amanda, Sara, and Lindsay Madden of Londonderry. She also loved her great-grand children; Stephen, Shawn, Samantha, Erin, and Katherine Tewksbury of Auburn and Jacob Tewksbury of Milford.
Dot enjoyed spending her time with her family and friends. She enjoyed telling stories from her youth, laughing, and seeing old friends. She lived her life for her family. She was a very devoted mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 23rd at 1:00pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. The burial will follow in the Forest Hill Cemetery in E. Derry.
