Obituary

Rayme Bond Waterhouse, 97, died March 26, 2011 at Atherton Place in Marietta, GA.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 31, 2011, at Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Mike Ruffin officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service. The body will lie in state at the funeral home Thursday.

Mrs. Waterhouse was born August 27, 1913 in Smithville , Georgia, a community in Sumter County, to the late Charles Bartlett and Fannie Grant Bond. A registered nurse, she worked at Middle Georgia Hospital in Macon, GA where she met her future husband when he was assigned to her as a patient. In 1971 she received a teaching degree from the University of Georgia and taught nursing at what was then Ben Hill-Irwin Technical School until retiring in 1983. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Bethany Sunday School Class, PTA, Magnolia Garden Club and the Pilot Club of Fitzgerald. An accomplished seamstress, she enjoyed sewing for her family. She devoted her life to her husband and family and will be remembered by her family for her amazing strength, courage, and love.

Mrs. Waterhouse is survived by daughters: Bonnie Israel of Marietta, Lynn (Charles) Lie-Nielsen of Newnan, and Beth (Don) McGowan of Marietta; Grandchildren: Mark Israel, Leigh Horn, Tad Cowan, Amy Lyda and Emily Sams; Great grandchildren: Madison Horn, Carter Israel, Riley Israel, Tate and Ty Cowan; Sister: Dorothy Harper of Lancaster, South Carolina. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Waterhouse, two sisters and three brothers.
