Obituary

Methuen, MA – Santa R. (Pellegrino) “Sandy” Oliveri, R.N., 87 died peacefully, Thursday at the Union Hospital in Lynn, with her loving family by her side, and is now with God and the Angels.
Born in Lawrence, Sandy was the daughter of Salvatore and Maria (Arcidiacono) Pellegrino. Mrs. Oliveri was a graduate of Lawrence High School class of 1941 and then went to Henniker College where she received a BA in Psychology and Sociology. She later went to and graduated from Symmes Arlington Hospital and received her degree as a Registered Nurse.
As a registered nurse, Santa began her nursing career at the Lawrence General Hospital for a short time and for the next 36 years was employed at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, before retiring in 1985.
Mrs. Oliveri was a longtime communicant of St. Lucy’s Church in Methuen. She enjoyed knitting, cooking, reading and solving crossword puzzles, but most importantly loved spending time with her grandchildren and loved her cat Mimi. She was a wonderful, wife mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed.
The widow of Salvatore M. Oliveri, Sandy is survived by one son, Laurence M. “Larry” Oliveri and his girlfriend Sharon Shaheen, three grandchildren, Heather Oliveri and her husband Jason Robito, Mark Oliveri and Matthew Oliveri, as well as several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother in-law, Vincent Oliveri and his wife Vivian of Methuen and Frank Oliveri and his wife Marilyn of Minneapolis, sister in-law Gloria Oliveri and Paula Veilleux of Methuen. She was pre- deceased by her sisters Mary Tomarchio and Ann Kourkoulakos.
ARRANGEMENTS: Friends will be warmly received on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc. 233 Lawrence Street of Methuen. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Tuesday morning at 9 o’clock in Saint Lucy Church with interment to follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.
