Margaret "Peggy" M. (Dillon) Ginley, 88, of Walpole died March 24 in her home following a long illness. She was the wife of the late James H. Ginley, who died in 1963.
Born in Norwood, November 10, 1922, the daughter of the late Patrick and Mary (Walsh) Dillon, Mrs. Ginley was raised in Norwood and had lived in Walpole since 1949.
She was a graduate of Norwood High School and the Boston City Hospital School of Nursing. A Registered Nurse, Mrs. Ginley had worked at Boston City Hospital and at Norwood Hospital before she married.
Following the death of her husband, Mrs. Ginley, a widow with two young children and in an effort to keep the funeral home open, attended the New England Institute in Boston, passed the State Board Exams and kept her husband’s business in operation.
In 1972, she stepped back and her son took over the business.
As a young girl she loved to Irish Step dance and in later years she loved to watch Lawrence Welk, read, travel to Vermont, go to movies and plays, and to stay up on politics, she loved being a Democrat.
She is survived by her son James P. Ginley and his wife Kathleen of Franklin and her daughter Mary Ellen Pelletier and her husband James of Walpole.
She is also survived by her twin sister Julia Collins of Medfield and was the sister of the late Mary Grue.
She is also survived b her grandchildren, R. Michael Lee of Cambridge, Megan Pelletier of Beverly, Timothy Pelletier of Santa Monica, California, Ryan Pelletier of Walpole, Meredith, Madeira, Patrick and Ciara Ginley of Franklin.
She also is survived by several niece and nephews. She was helped in so many ways in her last days by Natalie Volpe and Matthew Carty.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 28 in Blessed Sacrament Church in Walpole at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in South Walpole.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday in her home, 892 Main St., Walpole from 4-7 p.m.
