East Providence, RI-Maroun J. George, 60, of East Providence RI, died Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center with family at his bedside.
Maroun was born and educated in Darb es Sim, Lebanon and worked as a supervisor for Trans Mediterranean Airways at the Beirut International Airport until he came to the United States in 1985, Maroun worked at several companies and held various positions from Lead Technician to shipping and receiving Supervisor.
In 1990 he married the love of his life Annemarie and together they raised their two children, Andrew and Patrick. When he wasn’t busy working, Maroun enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family. He was a member of St. George Maronite Parish in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
Maroun was preceded in death by his parents Joseph A. George and Chafica (Geha) George. He is survived by his wife Annemarie Ashba George; his children Andrew George and Patrick George; his siblings Hind (Tanios) Daher of Norwood, MA, Hani (Fadia) Abdulmassih of Auburn, MA, Marsha (Tony) Aziz of Kissimmee, FL, Amal (Tony) Khattar of Auburn, MA and Malek (Catherine) George of Tampa, FL. Maroun is also survived by 18 nieces and nephews and 20 grandnieces and grandnephews
He was loved and respected by all his family and all who knew him.
The funeral is Saturday, March 26th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester, MA, with a Mass at 10:00 A.M. in Our Lady of Mercy Church, 341 June Street, Worcester, MA. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester, MA. Calling hours are from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Friday, March 25th in the funeral home.
