Mrs. Brenda Amelia (Roderick) Young age 57, of No. Truro died unexpectedly on Friday, March 18, 2011 at Cape Cod Hospital. She was the wife of late William “Billy” Young who died 11 years ago to the day. Born in Brockton, she was the daughter of Bernard P. “Sonny” and Lorraine (Engstrom) Roderick of Provincetown. Mrs. Young grew up in Provincetown and graduated from Provincetown High School. She lived several years in Wellfleet, prior to moving to No. Truro in 2005. Her favorite hobbies were playing Bingo at the Eastham Elks and spending time at Foxwoods.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her daughter Kathryn Young of Truro, her 3 sons, William “Chopper” Young of Wellfleet, David Young and his wife Amanda of Eastham and Harland Young of Provincetown. She was the mother of Rob Young who died on December 31st of last year. She is also her 6 grandsons, Andrew, Jonathan, Nicholas, Corbin, Hunter and Eli Young, and her 3 granddaughters, Caitlyn, Crystal and Evelyn May Young and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Bernard P. “Sonny” Roderick Jr. who died in December of 2007.
Visiting hours are Monday March 21, 2011 at the Gately – McHoul Funeral Home 94 Harry Kemp Way Provincetown from 5:00 – 7:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 22nd at 10:00am in St. Peter the Apostle Church 11 Prince St. Provincetown. A trust fund for her daughter Kathryn Young has been established, and if desired, memorial contributions to that fund at: Kathryn Young fund c/o TD Bank 103 Shank Painter Rd. Provincetown, MA 02657 would be greatly appreciated.
