Funeral service for Dorothy Fowler Allen , age 94, will be held Thursday at 11:00 A. M. at the Ashburn First United Methodist Church with burial to follow at 3:00 P. M. at the Bertha Dozier Cemetery, Montezuma, GA . Mrs. Allen died Monday March 21, 2011 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
Mrs. Allen was a native of Montezuma, Georgia the daughter of the late John Wallace and Annie Lucy Hagerman Fowler. She was the widow of the late Hugh Grady Allen who died in 2001 and preceded in death by five brothers. She had been a resident of Ashburn since 1996 and was a devoted member of the Ashburn First United Methodist Church. She was a former President of Americus District United Methodist Women.
Her Christian heritage will live on through her children and grandchildren: C. Patrick Allen and his wife Gaile of Athens, GA and Teresa A. Mitchell and her husband Robert P. (Bob) of Ashburn, GA, her grandchildren Beth (Lindsey) Cordell, Rome, GA, Clay (Tracy) Allen, Cumming, GA, Mary Margaret (Todd) Fincher, AlisoViejo, CA, Catherine (Mitch) Raines, Cordele, GA, Patrick Mitchell, Atlanta, GA and ten Great-Grandchildren.
Family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers for those who wish may make memorials to the Ashburn First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 406 N. Main St., Ashburn GA 31714.
