Obituary

Ricky Darrell Fletcher, 49, of Chula died Sunday, March 20, 2011, at Tift Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at the First Baptist Church in Chula. Rev. Chad Hall will officiate with burial to follow in Tift Memorial Gardens. Lee Fletcher, Jamie Horton, Luke Fletcher, Brett Fletcher, Adam Wynn and Mark Lyles will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Branch, Wayne Branch, C. L. “Buddy” Talley, Robert Padgett, Reid Wilson, Hollis Flanders, Ed Moore, Johnny Bradford, Terrell Roberson, Sid Roberson, Reid Jones and the deacons of the First Baptist Church in Chula. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Ricky was born on February 12, 1962 in Tift County and was the son of Catherine Dean Fletcher of Chula and the let Virgil Fletcher. He was also preceded in death by his brother, J. R. Wynn, Jr. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chula.

Ricky was best known by his friends as Darrell. He loved God and his family and started every day with a smile. He was faithful in attendance to all activities of his church and participated in AWANA, Adult Choir, Church Council and Vacation Bible School. He was proud to be called “Brother Chad’s Assistant”. His happiest times were spent planning and preparing for Church Fellowships, Outreach Activities and family gatherings. He brought joy to all he came in contact with and was a living example of unconditional love.

In addition to his mother, Ricky is survived by three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Sandra and Ron Walker of Tifton, Gail and Mark Youngblood of Chula and Jan Fletcher of Chula; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Eddie and Julie Wynn of Suwannee, Mike and Brenda Fletcher of Chula and Travis and Sandy Fletcher of Chula; three nieces and their families, Dawn and Mark Lyles and their children, Dalton and Megan, Amelia and Paul Hamilton and their daughter, Charlotte and Christy Fletcher; and six nephew and their families, Adam Wynn, Austin and Emily Wynn, Lee and Sabrina Fletcher and their son, Lane, Luke and Lindsey Fletcher and their son, Landon, Jamie Horton and his son, Chase and Brett Fletcher.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Missions Fund at the First Baptist Church in Chula, 30 Academy Drive, Chula, GA 31733 or the charity of your choice.
