Manchester-Maria Celeste Oliveira, 58, died March 18, 2011 at her home following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Alcobaca, Portugal on June 8, 1952 the daughter of Joaquim M. and Olinda (Afonso) Matos. She had been a resident of this city for many years.
She was a parishioner of St. Hedwig Church.
Prior to her illness she had worked for E.P.E , Sanders and most recently for OSRAM Sylvania for 17 years until her retirement three years ago.
She loved the ocean, enjoyed crafts, playing bingo and doing word searches, but most of all spending time with her family and her golden retriever Shelly.
In Her Life: Family members include her husband of 31 years, Jacinto “Jesse” A. Oliveira, son Andrew A. Oliveira and his wife Lorisa, daughter, Mrs Melissa Denis and her husband Jonathan all of Manchester, and daughter Michelle Marchetti and husband Gregory of Warwick, RI., one granddaughter, Lucy Oliveira of Manchester, one brother, Manuel Afonso Matos of Lisbon, Portugal, nine nieces and nephews and several brothers and sisters in law.
Services: There are no calling hours.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 AM in St. Hedwig Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105–1942.
