Obituary

Methuen, MA – Eileen A. (Herron) O’Rourke, 85; longtime resident of Methuen; passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 16, 2011 surrounded by her family.
Eileen was born in Lawrence the daughter of William and Ann (Wade) Herron and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1943 and Macintosh school of business. She was employed at Bon Secour Hospital until her retirement.
Mrs. O’Rourke was an attendant of Saint Monica’s Church in Methuen. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and took great pride in her grandchildren, Brittany, Brendan and Christopher. She enjoyed her summers in Maine and taking walks on the beach, playing 45’s, watching golf spending time reminiscing with her cousin George and his wife Celia and socializing with friends. Eileen always reached out to others in thoughtful and caring ways. She will be sadly missed by all whose lives she touched.
The widow of Methuen Police Captain Hugh D. O’Rourke, Eileen is survived by her son Daniel O’Rourke, and her daughter Ann Anzalone and her husband Mike.
A special thank you to Nurses Donna, Sharon, Dan, Moses and all the aides that took great care of her and showed compassion. Also the family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to her hairdresser, Margaret.
ARRANGEMENTS: A Funeral Mass to which relatives and friends are invited will be celebrated on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Monica‘s Church in Methuen. Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. O’Rourke’s name to St. Monica’s Church 214 Lawrence St., Methuen, MA 01844.
At Mrs. O’Rourkes request there will be no calling hours.
