APPLE VALLEY, MN: Richard Alonzo Woodbury of Apple Valley, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2011 at Fairview Southdale Medical Center at the age of 77 after a courageous battle with chronic lung and heart conditions.
Born and raised in Beverly, Massachusetts, he was the only son of the late Alonzo and Eleanor (Lamson) Woodbury. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Stuart and Robyn Woodbury; Scott and Risa Woodbury; and three grandchildren, Miles, Ashley and Cailey.
Richard served his country in the Army as a Specialist 4 during the Korean conflict. He then attended Boston University where he earned his BA and MA. He continued his service to his country by being an active member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary in both Minnesota and Florida where he spent the winters until his illness.
An avid fisherman and Civil War enthusiast, Richard enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with family and friends and will be dearly missed by many.
His funeral service will be held on Friday, April 1st in the Central Cemetery, Beverly, MA at 2 p.m.
