WEBSTER - Louis R. Gabor, 80, of 101 Lake Street, died Wednesday, January 14, at home after being stricken ill.
He leaves his wife of 57 years, Anna M. (Hencinski) Gabor; 2 daughters, Kathleen A. Remian, and Linda L. and her husband Neil E. Dixon, all of Webster; 2 brothers Alex Gabor of Oak Harbor, WA, and Ernest Gabor of Webster; a sister Irene Starzec of Webster; 2 granddaughters, Tracy L. Dixon and Kerri L. Dixon; nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by 3 brothers, Frank, Stephen and Carl Gabor, and by 2 sisters, Mary Krol and Rose Bounds.
He was born and raised in Dudley, son of Frank and Hermina (Susienka) Gabor, and lived in Webster since his marriage in 1946.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Africa, Sicily and Italy.
Mr. Gabor was a carpenter for the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local # 107 for many years, retiring in 1986.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Church, the Webster-Dudley American Legion Post #184, the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local # 107 in Worcester, and a former member of the Kosciuszko Society Boys Club.
The funeral, with military honors, will be held Saturday, January 17, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Holy Trinity Church, 68 Lake Street. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Dudley. Calling hours are from 6:00 to 9:00 PM Friday, January 16, at the funeral home.
