Mary (Sica) Interess, 84, a long-time resident of Medford, passed away March 17th. Born and raised in the North End of Boston, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Elizabeth (Hubinger) Sica. Growing up in the North End, Mary and her four sisters were affectionately known as “the German girls”. After marrying Isadore (“Inty”) Interess in 1945, she and her family settled in Medford in 1950.
A dedicated mother and homemaker, Mrs. Interess was also a seamstress employed by Shapiro Brothers Clothing in Cambridge, where she met Inty, and later by Trimount Clothing in Roxbury. Mary also worked in electronics assembly at ICON in Cambridge. Whenever possible, she spent time with her extended family and friends and enjoyed listening and dancing to a wide variety of popular music.
Mary was the beloved wife of the late Isadore Interess and the loving mother of Edward Interess and his wife Kathleen of Winchester. She was also the dear grandmother of the late Lauren Interess and of Darrell Interess and his wife Melissa of Indianapolis and great-grandmother of Nora Joy Interess. She was pre-deceased by her sisters: Emily Minincleri, Elizabeth Kosowan, Pauline Wilson and Florence Tiano and is survived by several nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service will be held in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, 185 Lake St., Peabody, on Tues. March 22nd at 11AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours in the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Mon. from 4-8PM.
