Obituary

William A. Foley, 83, died Thursday, March 17, 2011, at his home under the care of Old Colony Hospice after a long illness. He was the husband of Jean (Halpin) Foley. Born and raised in Hyde Park, he was a graduate of Boston Trade School. He was a resident of Stoughton since 1963. Mr. Foley was a Corporal in the US Army and a Veteran of World War II. He worked as a Carpenter for the MBTA for many years, retiring at age 62. He was a former member of Carpenter’s Local 40. In his free time, he enjoyed walking, ice skating and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Foley is survived by his seven children; William F. of Middleboro, John M. of E. Taunton, Thomas A. Foley and Maryanne Downey both of Attleboro, Vincent G. of Stoughton, Peter J. of Bridgewater and Jean M. Morgan of Middleboro. He was the brother of the late Charles A., Vincent, Geraldine Murphy, Kathleen Campbell and Ursula O’Brien. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Tuesday, March 22 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Monday from 5-8 PM. Burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in William’s name may be made to Old Colony Hospice, 1 Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368 or a charity of your choice.
